As some of you have notice, I am using the K2 theme for my blog. I’ve actually been working with the K2 theme for quite sometime now, so I have a good understanding on how it all works. My experience comes from working on Experience Matters, a web blog for Critical Mass.
I’ve always wanted to create my own style for my blog, but found the default setup of Wordpress was pretty limiting, especially the search feature. So here’s the game plan. I’m going to style my own theme using K2 as the backbone. Of course, I only want Worpdress to maintain my blog, not my site. The rest of my site (portfolio, gallery, etc.) will have its own unique style and theme. Why? I love CSS. Best part of my job is when I dig deep into it.
I do realize that it’s not common to have frequently changing themes for a site. But if there was one thing that really bothered me the most about my previous design, it would be that I felt restricted to that theme. I would have a great idea for a change but it wouldn’t have been so great on some of my pages. Most of the time, after awhile, I do get bored of clicking through my site and seeing the same theme endless times, regardless of the content. And it also gives me a chance to apply some different CSS skills.
So for this version of my site, I shall be trying out a couple different themes as well as working on better design and layout.
