Lets admit it. There has been a time in our lives where we must spend that extra time to finish off some project on time. Well, this ain’t post secondary anymore for me, and the pressure is just unbelievable. I mean sure, I was willing to sacrifice an arm or a leg on my grades, but this time around, I wish had a couple extra.
That being said, overtime to me is nothing more than just spending a couple hours after work to finish off a project. It’s just…that overtime on this project that I’m working on would force me to take a taxi home 4 nights nights in a row. Mind you, I live pretty close to my work, just a 20 min walk or 3 minute C-Train ride and 5 minute walk down.
We’ve (us being the Rolex team at Critical Mass) been extremely busy, busy enough that I haven’t bought grocery in weeks. We’ve been dining in everyday of the week at work. Waiters on Route do a pretty good job of getting our food at work hot or decently warm. But I tell ya, before I started working at Critcal Mass, I didn’t think I would be ordering my evening meal off of a online menu. The food is pretty good, we mix it up each night. Sushi, Greek, Lebanese, Moxies. Saves me cooking at my apartment.
Now, why would I want to work an average 14 hours 5 days straight? Who, in their right mind would want to do that? I’m sure there’s jobs out there that require those long hours, but in the online web industry? I has hell didn’t expect this coming.
So exactly why did I work those long hours? Well, two words. Project deadline. It’s what one may dread as the days progress on a project, especially when there’s that slight little voice in the back of your head saying $@%#. Is this a rant? It actually isn’t. Though the hours were long, there wasn’t a moment where I wanted to give up. Odd feeling huh? Well, that’s because I love my job, and not many people can say that. Anyone on the Rolex team could just simply just say “Screw this, I’m going home at 5″, but none do. Why? It’s because we take pride in the work we do. We know that our valiant efforts and every blood sweat tear (literally, while I was working my head started to bleed out of no where) will bring forth good tidings.
It’s a big team effort! Take our dine ins for an example. We don’t pay for that food. Heck, I don’t think there was one continent we haven’t tried the food from. It’s late in the night, we’re still working away and helping each other solve problems that arise. It’s one of the things that are essential to make such a great project team. Without that, the entire project would crumble like a heap of dry leaves in the face of…Ok, now I know I’ve watched the movie 300 far too many times already.
In retrospect, it’s been a hard 2 weeks, especially in the past 5 days. But I know it’ll be worth it at the end, and only then, can I explain what I’ve been doing these past 2 weeks.

I love what you guys tend to be up too. This type of clever work and exposure! Keep up the terrific works guys I’ve incorporated you guys to blogroll.
