The Rolex team here at Critical Mass recently rolled out two new sections on Rolex.com.
It was New Rolex Creations that I worked on with Troy Gullage. It was a tight deadline. In the beginning, we hammered through creating the basic templates, but when it came to the CMS part of the work…it became an uphill battle.
But with an awesome team effort, we managed to pull it off. I learned a couple things during our 3 weeks. One being that when you’re told it’s easy to put Flash into the CMS…expect it to be hard, especially when you’ve never done it before.
For the first time, Rolex chose to communicate directly with its customers on its new products by doing so online. The two microsites were both launched just in time for BaselWorld 2007.
We also launched with 5 languages now including Spanish, French, Japanese and Simplified Chinese. A big round of applause for Datasia for translating the entire site into those languages.
A year ago, I did not think I would be working on such a project. So much has changed in just those 12 months. I’m quite sure this is just the beginning as I move onto the Mercedes Benz account next week.

There’s a reason we’re putting you on Benz, man. You’re more than shown your ability to handle high priorities, deadlines, and are self-reliant. Important soft skills beyond knowing exactly how to use a DL tagset.
Nice work Nick!
Hey Nick,
Congrats! The site is looking good. We worked together, but we never really worked together. But I did see your dedication and the hard work that you put into every task thrown at you, no matter what it was. I also worked close with Geoff and Jim, your two superiors, so I got to hear all the good things they had to say about you. Keep up the good work and you will go far in this industry.
Hey guys.
Thanks for the kind responses. Really encouraging.
Scott - Though I’m not a Flash developer, I do know Flash, though not as top notch as the flash devs at CM.
