It couldn’t be helped. Certain events and situations lead me down to follow the path left behind of the iPod bandwagon. So let me tell you how it came to be that I am now a sole owner of an iPod Nano.

It was just recently that I posted about the possibility of getting and iPod. Before I knew it, I found myself at MyMacDealer looking about the iPod accessories, which I would like to say that the accessories for the iPod sure is abundant. But exactly what was I doing at a Mac dealer in the first place? Was it for that iPod Nano? How about we rewind back and do this Tarantino style.
I was eating away at my Cheerios when it occurred to me that I’ll be heading off to WWW2007 soon and will be taking my Acer laptop with me. As much as I would like to bring my iBook, there’s a lot more I can do with my Acer. More importantly, I don’t really have a sufficient bag to carry my Acer around. I got this Swiss Army bag that doesn’t really supply the paddings that a laptop bag should have. So what better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than to take a walk to a computer store.
I had to make a quick stop at the Telus sales outlet at TD Square. Ever since I’ve gotten my cellphone, I’ve always used it as an alarm clock. Not the greatest idea having a cellphone plugged into over 8 hours every night. My batteries wouldn’t last long enough to make a call and time to time would randomly shut my phone on and off. So I went in and I managed to convince the sales clerk to exchange the battery free of charge, even though my phones’ warranty was invalid well past it’s warranty date. It’s a Filipino trait that my mom passed onto me. Always bargain, you can end up saving some money here and there.
So now since I got a new battery, I decided that I should get myself an alarm clock so the same situation won’t happen again. The Source didn’t quite have any clocks for my taste. So I headed out to MyMacDealer.
All this was well timed since the monthly salary just recently rolled into the bank. The only thing I had on my mind now was picking up a
Brenthaven backpack. I heard from several colleagues that Brenthaven makes top of the line bags for laptops, so it was from that source of information I decided to base my next purchase on. Unfortunately, the moment I got into MyMacDealer, I was already distracted by the iPod display stand.
Curiosity hit me and I went over to check out the displays. Then some persuasive voice inside of me started throwing out ideas into my head. Crazy ideas. One idea that came across was with all the accessories that you can get for the iPod, maybe I could get some sort of iPod dock that could act as an alarm clock! The more I exchanged glances from iPod display to wall of accessories, the more greater this voice inside me became. In fact…I’m quite sure it sounded like Steve Jobs himself.
I probably took a good 20 minutes looking around and pondering about. At one point, one of the sales clerk behind the counter gave me a squinted glance, as if I was about to bolt out of the store with some iPod skin accessories. I can even picture him tackling me down in the parking lot and dragging me back into the store all tied up in iPod USB cords until the police got there. Fortunately that’s not the way this story goes. Not that he would’ve been able to catch up with an athlete like me
So I sucked it up and asked to buy the 8GB iPod Nano. Black. Now at this point I was shaking my head and calling myself a hypocrite. Nonetheless, I asked the sales clerk if they had any type of iPod dock that could act as an alarm clock. With all the different iAccessories that have been created for the iPod, some being too hubris for it’s own existence, I wasn’t surprised when he said that there was such an accessory on the market. The iHome.
At first I thought he actually meant a house. I wasn’t quite ready to purchase a freakin mansion just so my iPod could happily dock in it. That would be a pain in the ass just to walk up the stairs of this mansion and open up the iPod’s room just to scream “What the hell?! You’re still not fully charged yet? Hurry up! We gotta get rollin’ here!”
But nope, it was simply as big as any standard size radio/alarm clock. Unfortunately, they didn’t have any in stock. So now, I was left with the dilemma of not having an iPod alarm clock accessory…
