After taking some time to roughly go through all my notes from the web accessibility, I to realize that there’s a LOT of information in this area alone. Presenting all this information in front of the entire Technology Department at Critical Mass will prove as difficult as that Webmaster exam I took.
I’m not a very good oral presenter. Regardless how many times I practice in front of a mirror. Seriously, I lose my place and my cool. If only I could speak as well as I could blog…or perhaps a nice cold one would help me as it did for that one time I sang some Lion King song at a Karaoke bar, not that I could recall such an event.
So here’s my plan. I’m sure I could stand up there and preach away, but I think I rather have some form of material other than a PowerPoint presentation. Within all my notes are techniques that I need to share. How else but to use those techniques on a website?
But Nick, can you really code up an accessible site in just 4 weeks? Well, if the design and coding was just as good as the Rolex Premieres section I worked on, no. But for the purpose of having a decent presentation, I’m going to have to do a little extra work. I think it would good practice though.
So no hardcore design will be place on the plate, just a simple 6 page site that will demonstrate evaluation of web accessibility tools and techniques. Should be a cakewalk right? Right?

How much experience do you have in this area? If you need any pointers give me a yell. What type of people are you talking to?
I’m still soaking in all the information I got from the conference, but enough that I could do a 45 minute presentation. That is if I pace myself and not rush through everything.
My audience will contain a variety of web developers, flash developers, application develops, database administrators and so forth. All having different levels of knowledge of web accessibility. We’ve started a small group to help spread the knowledge of this area.
Pointers as in speaking in front of a crowd? Or pointers in my presentation? Or both? I’ll gladly get in touch if, or rather when, I need it.
I replied to you via the e-mail you sent. But basically I was asking about your background in accessibility.
Well, I’m really just starting out. I’m getting myself familiar with 508 and just practicing different techniques to create more accessible websites.
