The Annual Inspection

The last thing I want to see coming home is some 24 hour notice. But that’s exactly what I got when I came home today from work.

Ah come on, why me? Out of all the suites in this building, why mine?! It’s bad enough that I didn’t get hold of this 24 hour notice that was slipped under my door until I came home. My place is a mess, I have errands to do, seriously, this has got to be a joke.

When I first read the piece of paper between my feet, I thought it was an eviction notice. I wouldn’t be surprised if I got one of them in this day and age. Housing and rental are insane right now in Calgary. Though I think my rent is pretty feasible especially when the place is located in the heart of downtown. Only 5 minutes away from Chinatown, Eau Claire, TD Square, and walking distance (you can throw in free transit down a couple blocks) from work. Oh and not to forget our big swimming pool that I used almost every day.

But seriously, my place is a bit of dump right now. So now I’m forced to clean up. Even though it’s stated that I’m welcome to stay, there’s no way I’m leaving my place in the hands of unknown people. I’ve got far too many expensive equipment here that I don’t want people touching. So this forces me to fire off a late OOTO email to my project managers at work, and now I’ll be working from home until this inspection is all finished.

I’ve got my plate kinda full at the moment, and to see that the date on the notice is “Feb 15/07″, they could’ve given me a lot earlier notice on this. Well, I hope this is fast and painless because I got some HTML emails to build out ;)

I like how they say, “You are welcome to stay.” How thoughtful of them to allow you to stay in your own place.
